Contour and Gesture Drawing with Mary Lasica

As artists, we draw. We can look at an object and try to represent it on paper. There are different types of drawings we can do, and this workshop will explore two types of drawing in a 2-hour session. Contour drawing is an artistic technique focusing on sketching the lines, ediges and volune of a subject using a single continuous, and slow-moving line. Mary uses this when she wants to capture more organic shapes such as flowers, a backpack or a show.

Gesture drawing allowed the artist to capture a person's action, form and post in a quick sketch. She uses simle gesture drawings to place people in her paintings, capturing the form or pose of the person.

These types of drawing are meant to loosen up an artist. Don't expect finished works ready to frame from this session. Instead, these are student exercises.
