Julia Rasmussen

Julia Rasmussen is a retired technical writer. During her corporate career she lived in Mississippi, California, Jeddah Saudi Arabia, Wisconsin, Arizona, West Virginia and Alabama. She started semi-retirement in Minnesota before fully retiring in 2022 in Michigan. In retirement she started making and selling fabric creations under the name “Recycled by Ras”. Julia made wearable and functional art out of post consumer fabrics. Her creations were usually made from recycled fabric and sewn together with new thread so they would last a long time. 

 

Upon moving to Puerto Rico in 2025 she no longer had the space to store the amount of fabric that she once used, so she is making smaller fabric pieces and concentrating on applique, crocheting and embroidery. Julia likes to have multiple projects going at one time. At this writing she has: three crochet projects, and three embroidery projects in the works. She also started playing with watercolors this week. She loves to learn and play.
